The aim of the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling (Construction) qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competence of individuals who work in this specialised area of the construction industry. 

Who is the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling qualification for?

The Level 2 NVQ in Wall and Floor Tiling qualification is aimed at candidates who have some knowledge and basic skills in tiling, likely to have been gained from working in a role under supervision. This qualification enables learners to gain recognition for their skills and the potential to take on more responsibility in the workplace.

Entry Requirements:

The qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Learners must be aged 16+ and be working in a role that will allow them to demonstrate their competence against the units below. 

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling - Course content and delivery:

The learner will be assessed using a range of methods tailored to the learners needs.  These vary from on-site assessments, observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussions, and witness testimonials.

Candidates must complete all of the Mandatory units, plus ONE Optional unit.

Mandatory Units:

• Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
• Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
• Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
• Preparing backgrounds for tiling in the workplace
• Tiling wall and floor surfaces in the workplace

Optional Units:

• Laying sand and cement screeds in the workplace
• Laying under tile heating systems and tile systems in the workplace
