This NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations - Carpentry aims to recognise the knowledge, skills, and competence of individuals who specialise in a wood-based occupation within the construction industry. From there, developing into an experienced worker in the carpentry industry.

Who is the NVQ Level 2 Carpentry qualification for?

This carpentry diploma is designed for those who work in a wood occupation role in the construction sector. The qualification allows learners to demonstrate their competence in order to apply for the CSCS blue skilled worker card. A blue CSCS card is a card used as proof and evidence of competency in their role as a worker in any form of construction.

Entry Requirements:

This qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Learners must be aged 16+ and be working in a role that actively allows them to show their abilities as a skilled worker in the following units.

NVQ Level 2 Carpentry -Wood Occupations - Course content and delivery:

The learner will be assessed using a range of methods tailored to the learner's needs. These vary from on-site assessments, observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussion, and witness testimonials.

Course Content - Mandatory Units for all Pathways:

• Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
• Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
• Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Candidates must complete a minimum of three optional units within their chosen pathway: 

Pathway 1: Site Carpentry 

Pathway 2: Architectural Joinery 

Pathway 3: Structural Post and Beam Carpentry 

Pathway 4: Light Structural Timber Framing 

Pathway 5: Timber Frame Erection 

Pathway 6: Timber Decks and Cladding
